Two directions for the admin

The command center has every number the business runs on, but it's laid out like an audit. These two versions are drawn for the person who owns the company and opens the page to find out how it's going and what needs them. The first one reads like a morning brief. The second works like an operator's console.

What the current page gets right and where it strains

The September rebuild fixed the numbers. Fees come from the payments table, balances ignore the period picker, and every figure lives in one file. None of that changes here. Both directions below use the same functions in admin-metrics.ts.

The problem is presentation. The page is 6,840px tall at 1440 and 9,217px on a phone, and every figure gets the same card at the same weight. There are twenty-four tiles in all. The answer to "how's the business doing?" is "Fees earned, $279.62", and it sits in the fourth tile row, below four attention cards. Each of those cards opens with a paragraph explaining why it exists, which you stopped needing the second time you read it. Nothing is compared with anything, so $279.62 has no up or down. The fee ladder is a constant from a config file and takes a full card. The things you would act on (who to nudge, where to recruit, which checkout to chase) are buried in tables with no action attached.

A · The Brief puts one sentence and one number at the top, a short list of things that need you with a button on each, and moves the rest behind tabs. B · The Console keeps everything on screen but gives the admin its own navigation, a live activity stream, a supply-and-demand table that tells you where to recruit, and a search that opens anyone's full record in a drawer.

  • 1Explanations instead of actions. Every attention card opens with a paragraph about why it exists, and none of them has a button. To nudge Tomas you have to leave the page and find him.
  • 2The headline number sits in row four. "Fees earned $279.62" gets the same tile as "Take rate" and has no comparison, so you can't tell whether it's good.
  • 3Twenty-four tiles at one weight. Money, pulse and people each get two rows of four. Owners check a handful of these daily and the rest monthly.
  • 4A constant takes a full card. The fee ladder is the same every day. It belongs on a Money tab or in a tooltip.
  • 5Phone: 9,217px. Checking the business from your phone means scrolling past four attention cards before any money shows up.

Direction A · The Brief

You read it in thirty seconds. One sentence, one number with its trend, what needs you with a button on each, and tabs for everything else.

  • 1A sentence, written from the numbers. Fees, change against the prior period and how many things need you. It's the same kind of computed lede the dashboard already uses.
  • 2One headline number, compared. Fees kept, with the change against the previous period and a pace line for the month. The chart sits beside it, so earned and held read together.
  • 3Three supporting figures instead of twenty-four. Gross volume, fill rate and bookings, each with a sparkline and a delta. Everything else moves to the tab it belongs on.
  • 4Each item that needs you gets one action. Email Marcus, nudge the agents, see where, mark seen. The "why this matters" paragraphs become tooltips, and money items sort first.
  • 5Passing checks collapse to one line. A clear queue says what it checked in a single line, so a quiet day takes up little space.
  • 6Where to recruit. The three markets where open jobs outnumber the vendors who could take them. It's computed from vendor location and service radius, which the profiles already carry.
  • 7Tabs hold the depth. Money has the fee ladder, marketplaces and refunds. Marketplace has the funnel, service mix and markets. People has trades and the waiting list. Payouts and Records stay as they are.
  • 8The phone gets the same brief. It fits in one screen and a half, where today it's 9,217px.
  • 9Rows open the item. On a phone, tapping a row opens it in a sheet that has the action.

Direction B · The Console

  • 1The admin gets its own navigation. It's split into Run (today, disputes, payouts), Grow (money, supply and demand, funnel) and Look up (people, jobs, records), with counts next to each. It's the grouped-sidebar pattern the VaulterX admin uses.
  • 2Find anyone. One search across people, jobs, addresses and payments, also on ⌘K. It's the way into most tasks on this page.
  • 3Six live figures in one strip. Each has a sparkline and a delta. Held now is a balance, so it ignores the period picker, as it does today.
  • 4A queue, not cards. One row per item, with who, age and one action. Money items come first, and j and k move through the rows.
  • 5A live stream. Payments, payouts, applications, posts, reviews and sign-ups, newest first, as they happen. The admin hook already refetches every 60 seconds.
  • 6Supply and demand by market. This replaces the markets table. It adds vendors within 10 miles and applicants per job, so the gap bar shows where to recruit next.
  • 7Phone: Today first. Sections become chips, and the queue and live stream stack. Each one is a single tap from the tab bar's More.
  • 8The drawer is the key feature. It shows what this person is in the middle of, their money with us, their history, Stripe and license, and ways to reach them. Every name on the page opens it.

Recommendation

A · The BriefBuild this

You own the business, you don't staff it. What you need most days is the number, whether it's moving, and the four things only you can clear. A shows that in one screen on any device and keeps every existing figure a tab away. It's also the cheaper build, because most of it is the current page rearranged.

B · The ConsoleTake the drawer

Find anyone and the person drawer are the best idea on this board. Bring them into A: ⌘K from any tab, with every name in Needs you and Today opening the drawer. Build the full console later, when someone other than you is running the queue every day.

Either wayNon-negotiables

Numbers still come from admin-metrics.ts, and money stays in cents until money() formats it. Balances ignore the period picker. Status chips never use amber. The header's Get coverage stays the one amber, and figures are compared rather than just stated. Vendor, not contractor. Sentence case, Inter, the locked title scale.
